CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Receiving service distinction awards is nothing new for eight Central Luzon police officers, but what made their most recent fete extra special was the message conveyed by presidential daughter and concurrent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who cited members of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Kaagapay Class of 1996.

At the 120th Police Service Anniversary of Police Regional Office 3 (formerly Central Luzon Command), Philippine National Police regional director Valeriano de Leon and Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando lauded PRO 3 Community Affairs and Development Division chief Col. Romell Velasco as the Best Senior PCO for Administration and Bulacan PNP’s Col. Lawrence Cajipe as the Best Senior Police Officer for Operations.

Likewise feted were the Pampanga PNP under Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay as the Best Provincial Police Office and that of the Angeles City PNP under Col. Rommel Batangan as the Best City Police Office. Special Recognitions were also given to the Regional Staff led by Col. Joy Patrick Sangalang, Chief of RPRMD3; Col. David Poklay, chief of RID3; Col. Rudecindo Reales, chief of RCD3; and Col. Fitz Macariola, Force Commander of regional mobile force battalion.

Touted to take over the presidency, Duterte specifically cited in her message, delivered by De Leon himself, eight outstanding members of the PNPA Kaagapay Class of 1996.

Also adjudged as the Best Police Station of the year is Mariveles PNP under its local police chief Lt. Col. Galahad Taqueban. Interestingly the Mariveles PNP also notched the top recognition last year when it was still under the leadership of then police chief Col. Lumiwes.

In a statement, PRO 3 vowed “to continuously work with steadfast vigor and commitment to enhancing its capacity and capability in its quest to further improve peace and order and public safety services to the people of Central Luzon.”
